Calvin Manitoba International School is seeking a creative and passionate English Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate will teach English across the high school curriculum, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills. Working within a Manitoba (Canadian) Curriculum framework, the English Teacher will prepare students for academic success, standardized assessments, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses while fostering a love of literature, language, and effective communication.

The English Teacher will provide a supportive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment. The role emphasizes differentiated instruction, formative and summative assessment, and collaboration with colleagues, specialists, and families to ensure that each student achieves their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, teach, and assess high school English courses aligned with the Manitoba curriculum and AP English standards.
  • Develop students’ literacy, writing, communication, and critical thinking skills through engaging, student-centered instruction.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and a lifelong love of learning.
  • Integrate global-minded perspectives, literature, and inquiry-based approaches into daily teaching.
  • Use formative and summative assessment to monitor student progress, inform instruction, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and specialists to enhance curriculum delivery and student learning outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school leadership regarding academic progress, classroom expectations, and assessments.
  • Support school-wide initiatives, professional development programs, and extracurricular activities, including literary clubs or debate teams.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Literature, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification recognized in Manitoba or another Canadian province/territory, or eligibility for Manitoba certification.
  • Experience teaching English in high school or international school settings.
  • Native-level English proficiency with strong writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching AP English or preparing students for standardized assessments.
  • Experience teaching in international schools or with the Manitoba curriculum.
  • Google Certified Educator or experience using Google Workspace for Education.
  • Experience coaching extracurricular programs such as debate, writing clubs, or student publications.
