Job Description

FlyTeachers is currently recruiting school leaders for the upcoming academic year. FlyTeachers is recruiting a Whole School Principal on behalf of our client in South Korea. This is a rare opportunity to lead a growing K–12 international school delivering an American standards-based programme, with a strong focus on academic progress, student wellbeing, and a positive school culture.
This role suits a strategic, visible leader who can set direction, build high-performing teams, and create consistent systems that help students and staff thrive. If you believe that excellent schools are built through clear expectations, strong relationships, and thoughtful routines (and if you secretly enjoy turning “school chaos” into calm, workable systems), you will fit right in.
Role Overview (Whole School Principal / Head of School)
As Whole School Principal, you will provide leadership across the entire school, balancing strategic planning with day-to-day operational oversight. You will work closely with your leadership team to ensure consistent teaching quality, strong safeguarding and wellbeing systems, and a school culture where expectations are clear and support is proactive.
You will be highly visible across the campus, confident in leading meetings, coaching leaders, and communicating with parents. You will also be expected to use data intelligently to drive improvement, monitor student progress, and ensure interventions are timely and effective. This is a role for a leader who is calm under pressure, clear in decision-making, and capable of leading change without losing warmth or humanity.
Key Responsibilities
- Academic Leadership and Standards
- Lead whole-school improvement in teaching and learning, ensuring a consistent instructional approach and clear standards for classroom practice.
- Ensure curriculum implementation is robust and aligned with an American standards-based programme, including strong working knowledge of American Common Core Curriculum expectations.
- Develop and maintain effective assessment systems and data routines to support student growth, raise attainment and close gaps.
- Support teacher planning and professional practice through coaching, feedback and high-quality professional development.
- School Culture, Wellbeing and Student Support
- Build and protect a positive, safe and respectful school climate for all students and staff.
- Ensure strong pastoral systems are in place, including counselling and social-emotional learning structures where appropriate.
- Establish and maintain clear behaviour expectations that are applied consistently, fairly and transparently.
- Maintain strong safeguarding practices and promote a culture where student welfare is everyone’s responsibility.
- People Leadership and Staff Development
- Recruit, develop and retain high-quality staff and middle leaders.
- Set clear expectations, lead performance management, and build a positive professional culture grounded in collaboration and accountability.
- Create a strong rhythm of communication and teamwork across divisions, ensuring alignment and shared ownership of improvement priorities.
- Operations, Systems and School Improvement
- Oversee schoolwide systems including scheduling, staffing allocations, calendar planning, and operational coordination.
- Strengthen processes that support smooth school operations, including effective use of technology and school platforms (for example, learning management systems).
- Lead projects and initiatives with clear planning, stakeholder communication, and strong follow-through.
- Parent Partnership and Community Engagement
- Strengthen parent engagement through proactive communication, clear processes, and a shared commitment to student success.
- Represent the school professionally in meetings and events, ensuring families feel informed, supported and confident in the school’s direction.
