We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Secondary Social Studies Teacher to join our dynamic teaching team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering an engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of social studies topics, including history, geography, civics, and economics, for students in grades 9-12. This role involves creating a collaborative and interactive classroom environment that encourages students to think critically about social issues and engage in meaningful discussions.Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Instruction:
- Design, prepare, and deliver high-quality social studies lessons that align with the American curriculum for students in grades 9-12.
- Incorporate diverse teaching strategies and resources to meet the varying needs of students, ensuring accessibility and engagement for all learners.
- Utilize technology and multimedia resources to enhance instruction and provide students with a comprehensive understanding of social studies concepts.
Fostering Critical Thinking and Engagement:
- Encourage students to develop critical thinking skills through analysis of historical events, current affairs, and social issues.
- Promote active participation in class discussions, debates, and group projects, fostering a sense of inquiry and collaboration among students.
- Create assessments that measure student understanding and encourage reflective thinking about social studies topics.
Student Support and Mentorship:
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance and areas for improvement.
- Provide individualized support and mentorship to students, helping them navigate academic challenges and personal growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues to implement intervention strategies for students who may require additional assistance.
Parental and Community Engagement:
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student performance, classroom activities, and ways to support learning at home.
- Organize and facilitate workshops or informational sessions for parents on social studies topics and their relevance to students’ education.
- Engage with the local community to enhance the social studies curriculum through field trips, guest speakers, and community projects.
Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay updated on current trends in social studies education.
- Collaborate with faculty members to share best practices, resources, and strategies for effective teaching and learning.
- Contribute to the school community by participating in extracurricular activities, school events, and committees focused on student engagement and support.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, History, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.

- Experience teaching social studies subjects, particularly at the secondary level (grades 9-12), is preferred; newly qualified teachers (NQTs/ECTs) with relevant practicum experience are encouraged to apply.
