The Location
Yogyakarta, often called “Jogja”, is the cultural heart of Indonesia and a city where tradition meets modernity. Located in Central Java, Yogyakarta is famous for its rich Javanese heritage, royal palaces, and world-renowned temples such as Borobudur and Prambanan. As a vibrant hub of art, culture, and education, the city is home to prestigious universities and international schools, attracting both students and professionals from around the world. Known for its warm hospitality and affordable cost of living, Yogyakarta provides an excellent quality of life for teachers, expatriates, and families looking to experience Indonesia’s cultural richness in a safe and welcoming environment.
Beyond its historical landmarks, Yogyakarta offers a lively lifestyle with bustling street markets, traditional batik workshops, contemporary art galleries, and a thriving café scene. The city is also surrounded by natural beauty—from the slopes of Mount Merapi to stunning beaches along the southern coastline—making it ideal for those who enjoy both cultural exploration and outdoor adventures. With its unique blend of history, creativity, and community spirit, Yogyakarta is not just a tourist destination but also one of the most rewarding places to live and work in Indonesia.
The School

Established in 1989, YIS provides a truly international learning environment where English is the main language of instruction, complemented by French, Spanish, and Indonesian. The school’s modern facilities, botanical gardens, and Olympic-standard sports fields create a supportive and inspiring environment for both students and teachers.
