Job Description

Teach Abroad in Taiwan: Grow Your Career and Make a Lasting Impact

Foresight International Education Center (FIEC) is a reputable organization who partners with several school boards in Ontario to deliver effective programs to help students. We also focus on placing exemplary Canadian certified teachers and other international teachers in prestigious private schools in Taiwan to allow them to experience teaching abroad.

Duration:
One-year, full-time contract.
Starting date: August/September or January; other start dates may be available.

Job responsibilities:
As an ESL teacher in our program, you will be responsible for working with your colleagues at the school to use the curriculum and the resources from previous years to develop and deliver ESL lessons. You will be able to set up your own classroom and will teach the same group of students daily, allowing for strong teacher-student relationships. Teaching hours follow regular school hours, typically from 8:00-4:30, with personal preparation periods throughout the day. A standard week includes 22 teaching hours, with the rest of the time split between personal preparation, lesson planning with teaching partners, and professional development meetings. As part of the planning, teachers are in charge of designing and marking exams, as well as writing report cards and attending parent-teacher interviews. Small class sizes and the availability of a multitude of resources and professional support will allow you to make a meaningful impact in students’ lives while enhancing your teaching skills and gaining relevant professional experience.

Requirements

Qualifications:
Required
-        Bachelor’s degree or higher
-        Valid teaching license or TESL/CELTA certificate from a recognized institution including an in-person practicum
-        Citizenship: Countries where English is an official language

Recommended
-        Previous experience teaching ESL
-        Previous experience working with children
-        Interest in collaborating with others to develop professionally

The School

Description:
Foresight IEC is seeking certified ESL teachers for full-time contracts in Taipei, Taiwan, to teach at our elementary or high schools.

Our unique ESL program combines an engaging curriculum, high-interest topics, and interactive teaching methods. You will be working within a strong, international ESL teaching team which includes a great support system in the form of more experienced mentor teachers and teacher directors. We also have site directors, local educational assistants, program support staff, and program principals who assist teachers with all aspects of the program.
