Calvin Manitoba International School is seeking a dedicated and experienced EAL Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate will support multilingual learners in developing English language proficiency to access the Manitoba curriculum successfully. The EAL Teacher will provide targeted language instruction, scaffold academic English across subjects, and collaborate closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and educational assistants to ensure equitable access to learning and full participation in school life.
This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about second-language acquisition, culturally responsive teaching, and supporting diverse learners in an international school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver EAL instruction aligned with Manitoba curriculum outcomes and English language development frameworks.
- Provide small-group, push-in, and pull-out language support tailored to students’ English proficiency levels.
- Differentiate instruction and scaffold academic language to support success in core subject areas.
- Monitor and assess English language development using appropriate assessment tools and maintain accurate records of student progress and proficiency.
- Collaborate with homeroom and subject teachers, educational assistants, and the Student Support Team (SST) to plan, differentiate, and implement effective language support.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, language development, and recommended support strategies.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the EAL program in alignment with Manitoba guidelines.
- Promote inclusive, culturally responsive practices and participate in professional learning and school initiatives to enhance the overall support for multilingual learners.

Requirements
- Valid Manitoba teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
- Training or specialization in EAL/ESL education.
- Strong understanding of second language acquisition and language scaffolding strategies.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and provide meaningful support to diverse learners.
- Native-level English proficiency with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Science of Reading and evidence-based literacy instruction practices.
- Experience teaching in international school settings.
- Experience with Manitoba curriculum standards.
- Familiarity with collaborative teaching models and Student Support Teams (SST).
