Job Description

  • Start date: Negotiable
  • Location: Greater Seoul area, South Korea

FlyTeachers is currently recruiting school leaders for the upcoming academic year. FlyTeachers is recruiting a Head of School (Campus Leader) on behalf of our client in South Korea. This is a senior leadership role within a growing K–12 American international school group, and it sits under the Whole School Principal position. While the Whole School Principal provides strategic leadership across the organisation, the Head of School will take full responsibility for one campus, ensuring excellent daily operations, high-quality teaching and learning, and a thriving school culture.

This role is perfect for a leader who enjoys being visible, practical and people-focused. You will be the calm centre of the campus: steady with systems, strong with relationships, and always one step ahead of whatever the school day decides to throw at you.

Role Overview (Head of School / Campus Principal)

As Head of School, you will lead one campus on behalf of the Whole School Principal, translating whole-school priorities into excellent daily practice. You will oversee teaching and learning, student wellbeing, parent communication, staffing, and campus operations. You will ensure that policies and routines are implemented consistently, and you will be accountable for the campus climate, standards and results.

You will work closely with the Whole School Principal and central teams, contributing to improvement planning and reporting on progress. You will also lead and develop middle leaders and teachers, creating a culture of professional growth, shared accountability and high expectations.

This is a role for someone who can balance strategy and practicality: able to set direction, but also happy to solve the real-world challenges of a busy campus (sometimes before the first coffee).

Key Responsibilities

Campus Leadership and Operations

  • Lead daily campus operations to ensure the school runs smoothly, safely and efficiently.
  • Implement whole-school policies and systems at campus level, ensuring consistency and clarity.
  • Oversee scheduling, staffing allocations, routines, events and campus logistics.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety procedures are robust, understood and consistently followed.

Teaching, Learning and Academic Standards

  • Drive high standards in teaching and learning across your campus, supporting a consistent instructional approach.
  • Ensure strong curriculum implementation aligned with an American standards-based programme, with clear familiarity with American Common Core Curriculum expectations.
  • Support effective assessment and data use to monitor student progress, strengthen interventions and improve outcomes.
  • Coach and develop staff through feedback, modelling and professional learning, ensuring continuous improvement.

Student Culture, Wellbeing and Behaviour

  • Build and maintain a positive campus culture where students feel safe, respected and motivated to learn.
  • Ensure clear behaviour expectations and restorative practices that support learning and wellbeing.
  • Strengthen student support systems, including counselling and social-emotional learning structures where appropriate.
  • Promote student voice and character development as part of daily campus life.

Parent Partnership and Community Engagement

  • Lead communication with parents, ensuring transparency, responsiveness and consistent messaging.
  • Build strong community relationships through events, meetings and proactive engagement.
  • Handle parent concerns with professionalism, empathy and clear follow-through.

People Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead, support and develop staff and middle leaders on your campus.
  • Establish clear expectations, professional standards and a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Contribute to recruitment and retention, ensuring the campus attracts and keeps high-quality educators.
